Developers appeal Council decision to refuse demolition of Canonmills Bridge buildings
The developers seeking to replace the existing buildings at 1-6 Canonmills (the building occupied by “Earthy”) and to replace it with a four storey block of flats with three houses at the rear, have now submitted an appeal against the Council’s decision refusing demolition consent.
The appeal will be considered by a Scottish Government Enquiry Reporter. No date has yet been set for the Reporter’s consideration and decision. The Society’s objections to the application will be taken into account by the Reporter and we have two weeks to make additional representations.
The Society is in touch with other bodies who campaigned against the development plans and the demolition, including the Cockburn Association, the Community Councils for Broughton and the New Town and for Stockbridge and Inverleith, as well as the campaign group “Save Canonmills Bridge”. We plan to submit further representations to the Reporter in the next two weeks which will be reported on the website.
