The proposal is for a development involving the construction of a 3 storey block with 10 flats and underground parking. The existing stone building on Warriston Road currently occupied by “Rayprographics”, parts of which probably date from the early nineteenth century, would be demolished.

Although the site is just outside the Conservation Area boundary the Society objected to the proposed development on the grounds that it would have a negative impact on the character of Conservation Area and on local amenity. The existing stone building is not listed but has some interest as a local feature.

Our objection pointed out that the proposals do not meet the City Council’s adopted design policies which emphasise the importance of respecting the local context of developments and ignores the potential for incorporating the historic structure in any new development while making no positive contribution to the local environment and amenity of the area.
